About Me

I'm from Barnsley in South Yorkshire and the youngest of seven children. I grew up surrounded by books, comics, felt tip pens and an endless supply of paper.

Lobby Loo and me

I studied illustration at Harrow College of Art before going on to the Royal College of Art to specialize in design for film and television. Since then I've storyboarded, made models, designed characters and painted concept visuals on many interesting film and TV projects, involving live action, animation and puppetry. Take a look at my film and television work or watch The Tale Of The Rat That Wrote (Bafta nominated for Best Short Film and winner of 5 international awards), for a flavour.

My first picture book Chilly Milly Moo was published by Walker Books. It's about a cow who doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the herd, but that's until she discovers her own, unique, special talent.

Ballet Cat is about friendship and acceptance, and was published by Walker Books. The story takes place amongst the back streets and rooftops, it centres around a gang of rollicking alley cats. For a peek at of some of the artwork go to my illustration portfolio. At the moment Ballet Cat is being adapted as a dance theatre show by Flibbertigibbet Theatre, it's a co-production with Travelling Light and The Egg Theatre. Here is a short promotional film.

Hyde and Squeak was published by Little Tiger Press. It's a humorous, gothic children's tale inspired by the classic Jekyll and Hyde. Visually, it's a mixture of picture book and comic book, take a look at some of the final artwork here.

Currently, I am developing ideas and projects for different age groups.

Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to ask about my books, work with me, or book me for an event.
